Compassionate Home Care Aide Needed
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate caregiver to provide in-home care and support for an individual with disabilities. This is a [full-time/part-time] position offering the opportunity to help someone maintain their independence and quality of life in the comfort of their own home.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Support with mobility, transfers, and use of adaptive equipment
- Provide medication reminders and administration as needed
- Prepare meals accommodating dietary needs and restrictions
- Light housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean living environment
- Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community activities
- Offer companionship and encourage social interaction
- Assist with communication and advocacy when needed
- Support participation in therapeutic activities and exercises
- Monitor health status and communicate changes to healthcare team
- Maintain detailed care logs and documentation
- Respect client's autonomy and encourage maximum independence
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous caregiving experience preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to lift to stabilize for transfers and perform physical tasks
- Excellent communication skills
- Patient, kind, and empathetic personality
- Background check and references required
Preferred:
- CNA, HHA, PCA, or DSP certification
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of disability rights and person-centered care principles
- Familiarity with adaptive equipment and assistive technology
- Training in de-escalation techniques
